Okay I've seen the scams and spams, but this is a new one on me.
I got an email from a person who claims to be from Russia, living with his disabled mother. He says he's lost his job and they are living on a government benefit (like our SSDI) which is not even enough for food. Claims to be using a pc at a library, stumbles upon some email addresses and is reaching out for help. Asks me if I can to please send canned or dried food, etc. Not mention of money. Appologizes for not having a camera to send a pic of himself and mother. Just says it's gonna be a tough cold winter and they could use some help. Gives an address (yes, in Russia). Hard not to wonder if this is just another BS email. But then, what if it's not? So I checked it with Snopes, and sure enough, he's been scamming for years. Beware the Valentin Mikhayla email. I'm going to start an email about this and send it around.

Oh my goodness, they are NOW ASKING FOR FOOD?? What do they expect you to do, ship food TO RUSSIA?
Every single day I get an email telling me I EITHER WON THE IRISH SWEEPSTAKES, THE GREAT BRITAIN LOTTERY, or some Nigerian Lord "The Honorable somebody or other". With the sweepstakes, they either want my personal info and I should contact the sweetstakes or lottery person, and with the Nigerian scams, they want my bank account, the fax number, etc. etc. And lately I've been getting emails putting god in the subject matter telling me that I have been blessed (this is also a Nigerian scam), and the lady is Mother someone or other and she is the widow of the President of the Tribal Chief and she has $100 million dollars in trust and because she knows I'm a trustworthy person, all I have to do is contact her and she'll give me the money!!! Yeah right. I once told someone, "Oh good, you want to give me 100 million, just put it in my paypal account. I never heard from them again. good lord lol

Exactly! They want to give the perception of only wanting food.....and it makes people think "aww, poor things...I'll just send money and let them buy what they need." Who's gonna ship heavy items to Russia anyway?? They're banking on people sending money 'cos it's easier. They may as well just go rob a food bank on Christmas Eve.............same difference.
