When I had my surgery over a month ago we hired a home health care company to care for my Olhipie until I could. They bath him and dress him. Well, two days last week they called and said they couldn't come because of whatever.....today the lady...don't know what kind of medical title she has...she told me that her husband was having health problems and that she couldn't come for the rest of the week and that they will not be sending someone to replace her.
So am I all of a sudden better...today I got my Olhipie ready...I am so angry. What do ya do...I want to fire them and just move on and care for him like I did before...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Geez, Tam, I hope you didn't pay the company in advance for the whole term.
I think I would demand that they subcontract an available, licensed home health aid at their own expense. What a load of carp. I'm glad you're feeling at least a little better.

We dealt with the same issues with the home health care company that was taking care of my mom. Finally, we contacted the director and found out that it was the LADY and not the company. The company was totally unaware of what the lady was doing.
So, Tamiloo if you contracted through a company, contact the company and find out what's going on. I hope you get to the bottom of the situation and don't do damage to yourself in the process!

Tamiloo, I agree with the others. If you have a contract through an agency then the agency should be contacting you when someone cannot show up....not the individual care giver. If this is happening then the agency probably doesn't even know about it.....and the care giver may still be getting paid for being at your residence (even though she's not). I doubt it would get that far because they usually have to submit something signed by you stating that they fulfilled their obligation. But nevertheless, it puts a significant burden on you and the agency is ultimately responsible for the actions of it's employees.
I'd be making detailed notes and demand a refund if you paid up front. Good luck...and don't hurt yourself.

Oh Ms Loo...I think you still need help...you're still having too much pain and trying to get used to meds...can your son come help you for a bit...or maybe hire a neighbor...and I surely hope you let the head of the company know...and the editor of your local paper.

My father's wife hired a home heath aide for my dad, She showed up, accompanied his aging wife after he died to places, took out a cell phone in my step-nother's name, old lady never read her bills and just paid them, There were calls to other countries, by the time it was stopped (by my brother)lots charged but no money was gotten back.

No replacement lady said? Maybe she never told company she'd be out and still collects her pay.

I agree with the other posts. My mom needed home health to come to our house since my dad worked and I was in school, and the agency always called and sent someone if our regular lady couldn't make it. I would definitely get to the bottom of this.
