Faculty and students alike today were cheering at the news of Blago's arrest. We have been expecting one for a few years so this is long overdue. This is the same governor that requires all university employess including students to take an on line ethics test. You can't imagine how many bribes I have been offered by corporations, etc:rolleyes: I only hope they can get the state cleaned up. There may be other politicians running for cover in the state senate.

Maybe I will still get a pension someday!

My update: Not feeling so great again today -- went to Wal Mart -- big mistake and had spasms in my foot and leg. Have more papers to read and grade, presents to wrap, etc. and all I want to do is lay and state at the ceiling.

I can't believe that the voters here elected him once, let alone twice. the voters here deserve what they get...since they don't do their homework before stepping into the ballot box. But once again Illinois looks bad.:( And now, because he has raped the teacher's pension fund, and not paid the state medicaid bills, our state is in very bad financial shape.
Just goes to show, there are NO heroes...just very flawed humans roaming the planet.

I am embarrassed that I did vote for him. :o I don't think anyone could do their homework enough to have expected this to happen. I don't care what he did to an adult as much as I care how he denied funding to Children's Hospital because the CEO wouldn't give him money. THAT is worse than selling Obama's senate seat in my opinion. That hospital relies on funding to give these children a chance to live. How dare he, shame on him.

Anyhoo, who sent Ol' Man Winter to my house? :yikes:

weegot5kiz 12-09-2008 06:12 PM

maybe he will get a chance to say hello to george ryan:yikes:

ok good news it stopped raining

bad news we got 3 inches of snow already, and beneath the snow is ice

.. Slip sliding away, slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away......

SandyC 12-09-2008 06:34 PM

You only got three inches? We're already at about 4-5 with the winds. And stupid Rudolph decided to fall once again and I was out there staking him down and the wind blew up my coat and shivered me timbers! :yikes:

Whoah God only knows, God makes his plan
The informations unavailable to the mortal man
Were workin our jobs, collect our pay
Believe were gliding down the highway, when in fact were slip sliding away

hey all....coughing a lot more now...less sore throat..hoping it means it is working its way OUT!!

If terrible tomorrow I promise to call rigth away and get in..or if cant get in..>I will do the walkin clinic....

hugsss oh I also go to the eye dr for my yearly exam...I think she will be doing fields too....last year my right eye was borderline on that test whatever that meant..and she said yearly she will want fields done..

hugsss, sarah (who is going to make or watch Mikayla make a gingerbread house with the little ones...one of those kits...)

You poor IL people. I hope the situation gets worked out and a new governor steps in.

Barb - I did think of you when I read about it. Hopefully, things will get straightened out quickly and you will not only get your pension but the insurance premiums will be paid and all caught up so you don't get stuck with the bills.:hug:

Sandy - I had to read your "He double L to the double no!" post a few times to get that. LOL I thought, "He double L'd to the double?" What the heck is that? LOL. I finally got it. Glad you didn't have anything to do with it.:p

Frank - Thanks for the weather update. LOL Even though it feels cold here today, I shouldn't complain. 3" of snow with ice underneath is not fun. Slip sliding away . . . How do you manage with your cane on that? Doesn't the cane slip too? That could be dangerous. . . . Oh dear, I sound like such an idiot. :D I mean I grew up in snow but never once thought of managing a cane in snow. The thought never crossed my mind. I was more focused on managing a sled in snow and my ice skates on ice.

Update: As you can all probably tell, I am feeling so much better. Certainly not 100% but better than I have in a month. Of course, tomorrow is my date with the tube and lorazepam so I am sure by 1:30 tomorrow afternoon I will be feeling gooooodddd. LOL So if I don't post tomorrow afternoon, I'm sleeping and if I do well. . . it could be entertaining for you all.:D

Sarah - Quick! Don't let the little ones see Sandy's post about Rudolph. LOL

Glad to hear the throat is feeling better. Have fun with the gingerbread house. (Used to love making those when I was a kid). Give Mikayla a big hug for helping the little ones make it. That is sweet of her.

Sandy,
didn't mean anything by my comments...people trust those who run for office to be ethical...
but when Blago ran in his first primary against Paul Vallas, the head of the chicago public schools who did such a fine job in turning around that system, and was against the Daley machine, Vallas lost...he didn't have Daley's support, and therefore the contributions to his campaign dried up. Blago was a Daley underling for a long time...learned from the best crooks in the chicago area...
so at a time when Illinois should be proud that our senator is about to be inaugurated as President, a stain has been put on us again...
hope our past governor can move over in his jailhouse bunk to make room for Blago...

Well, at least we can be proud of Obama. I hope they finish "taking out the trash" and put these crooks in jail.
