Kell, my mom studied profiling and forensics in an amateur fashion, taking a few community college classes, after I was grown.

she used to pass on crates of books on criminal profiling, serial killers, spree killers, and just garden-variety murderers.

normally, I'd just send them on to the thrift store (ugh!), but when I was on enforced bedrest, and there was nothing *else* to read, well... put it this way, I know FAR more than I want to, about the subject !!

later, a stepdaughter joined our family, bringing with her a taste for horror flicks, and Elvira's late-night show... I didn't watch, just endured the soundtracks from the next room.

fast-forward to today, my DH has a prediliction for shows like CSI, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, and DEXTER... so. for our nightly hour of "Jungle TV" (watching downloaded shows on the computer, lol!) since HE's the one with the pirate-skills, he chooses the shows (although I do submit lists of NICE movies), that's what we often end up watching.

this weekend's movies (his choice) were The Alphabet Killer (HORRID MOVIE, do NOT go see it!) and MR73 (an EVEN SCARIER MOVIE, it gave me nightmares !!)

Alphabet Killer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Alphabet_Killer

MR 73: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0920470/

Kell, I don't envy you, having seen those crime scene photos, it's difficult to erase those images from one's brain.............

I suggest playing some soothing symphonic music, or reading a NICE novel... that's what helps me do the Brain-Etch-a-Sketch thing.

Hi all. :) Won't reply to all the posts, but did read through them. :grouphug::grouphug:

Was offline the last two days 'cuz we went to visit the in-law's. MIL is doing so-so. She seems to be recovering slowly from the surgery, and is having some issues. She sees the doc again in Feb. - hopefully they'll get her into some PT if everything is looking ok.

My family got us a Wii Fit for Christmas. (my dad has the amazing luck of being one of the first in line after a truck comes in with hard to find items ). The little thing is a little insulting by making your Mii chubby if you're overweight :D, but it's a blast to exercise on. I might actually get into a regular exercise routine with this. :)

Now sipping coffee and hoping to wake up. Which reminds me - the coffee my dad got us is great! We like strong coffee, and we loved it.

Hope everyone has a good day today. :grouphug:

Sarah, I've NEVER been good at doing what I'm supposed to, or NOT doing what I'm NOT supposed to.

:D

it's just a leetle bit achy today, not shrieking pain any more... YAY !!

sometimes (well, most times!) I just cannot handle the over-stimulation of lots of people, no matter HOW much I love them... the thing I appreciate most about my DH is he lets me re-gather my strength, rest, read, and have computer time, with a quiet house...

that's what I crave most days... just communing with the animals, doing my chores, or curling up with a book.

I think it's because I spend so much energy *screening OUT* all the false MS messages... like tingling, burning, parathesias, leg spazzes, trigeminal neuralgia, headaches, blabetty blah blah blah... that there's just simply not the energy to converse for very long.

I do not have the patience to deal with dial up service.
my trick is to keep half-a-dozen windows open, with email in one, news in another, two or three message boards, and a game or two going on.

with my jungle-DSL (with a speed almost as slow as dial-up) I might get VERY frustrated while I wait, and wait, and wait for pages to load.

but with my leetle trick, I always have something to do or read on *another* page, underneath.

 and travel safely back home, Barb !!

Glad it's feeling better today.

I have to admit, I'm guilty more times than not of also being stubborn. Seems to be a prerequisite, lol. :D

how can I HELP but think of your Olivia, with my beautiful silver duckie to watch every day!

also, your avatar helps remind me of your gorgeous little girl.

your leetle ChezKay duck-update:

Mermaid is now happily mating with several drakes, and wandering around the property, seeking succulent greens and bugs to dine upon.

and Cinderfella, well, I gotta tell ya, it must be the Boy-Named-Sue stigma, as he's quite the aggressor in HOT pursuit of anything that moves...

:D

by the way, Lady Olivia is now an adult, and yesterday, I saw her examining the new nestboxes.

she poked her head into each of the boxes, fiddled with the straw bedding, and rearranged a few pieces... she even spent about ten minutes trying one on for size... YAY !!!

I took pictures (of Olivia, for Olivia), but I can't get them to upload, my laptop can't "SEE" that the camera's hooked up, and won't upload... SIGH !!

also, I think I already told you, Olivia has now become an expert flyer, swooping gracefully between the mango trees in the orchard, and doing TEN-POINT perfect splash-landings in the pond.

she's become the most lovely little lady, and I can't WAIT to see who she chooses for her mate, and also, am waiting very excitedly to see her babies !!
