Remember my new cable receiver problem. It wouldn't work in the living room (but it worked fine in the bedroom). The transponders wouldn't pick up the signal when I connected it in the Living Room. The old receiver was working just fine but it could not be programmed.
So they sent me a brand new programmable receiver. I got the protection plus plan and they sent out some cable guys yesterday. I explained the whole situation. They immediately changed the pin that went from the co-axial cable into the back of the receiver. I said "what makes the pin work with the old box and not the newer programmable box?" The guy said "well, this new box might be more sensitive". Guess what? Didn't do a thing. I then said 'now why would this new box work in the bedroom and not the living room (while the former box works just fine in the living room). This makes no sense to me. Then they went outside, following the cable line to a bunch of cables all connected on the outside of the wall of my house. They then put two new barrels on. The old ones looked perfectly fine. I know what these are supposed to look like because these were replaced two years ago when the cable guy came and I led him to the connection on the side of m home and I said "here's the problem". He unscrewed the barrels and said "oh, look, it's all corroded", he put on two new barrels and all was fine. So now I am standing with two cable guys and they are unscrewing the barrels tha the other guy put on. I saw NO CORROSION. But they just shrugged and put two new barrels on. We all came back in, they did something on the back of the receiver (I got a phone call and could not see what they were doing). All of a sudden, there was a picture. I checked everything. I tested the programming capability. All was fine. So tell me why they changed two perfectly good barrels? When I asked them this, they shrugged and this is exactly what they said: "Well, they were going to be corroded some day anyway, they might have been sensitive, the box might have been sensitive". ???????????????????????????????????? lol Melody Hey, at least we get to program the box in the living room now. You should have seen Alan, when he woke up and came into the living room and I tell him "you don't have to use two remotes now to turn on the tv and the cable box, the guy programmed it and now you just turn the ON button on. He said "I don't like change". I said 'get used to it". Then he tried pressing the up and down round thing (as he used to do when he went from Channel 2 to channel 3). He starts yelling "This remote doesn't work". I said "of course it works, it's exactly like the other one". He says: "Oh yeah, change the channel". When the up and down thing in the middle didn't do it, I simply went to the option 'channel up and down". It worked fine. I handed it to him and said : LEARN!!! lol lol lol
