Tricky question.
I drink two cups a day when I wake up. If I have more than 2 or any at all after about 10 am I'm awake all night instead of only half the night. I think it's one of those things where it depends how ones health is to begin with. Some people probably can do without any caffeine at all. Other people it doesn't seem to harm them. If I drink too much caffeine, I am more prone to anxiety attacks and more RLS symptoms and I get a bit ticcy. It helps me organize my thoughts better though. Are you just generally asking or are you wanting specific information for specific health conditions? |

Thanks Lara for your reply! Well I was asking because I heard it told that coffee is supposed to be good for you and wanted everyones opinions here. I suffer from Lupus, Fibro, Anxiety & depression so I wanted to make sure drinking it wasn't going to make any of my symptoms worse. As you said in your post if you drink too much it makes you have anxiety attacks so I definately don't want to make that worse in me! Thanks again for your reply

Hi Sadeyes4ever,
I am glad you posted this question but I also have a question that I wonder if anyone can answer. I had been a coffee lover for 38 years and usually drank a pot every day. Four months ago, I had alot of health problems and it took until a month ago before I became well again. The question is, after being a coffee lover for all those years, why now all of a sudden, I can't even drink one cup of coffee? I can't stand the taste or smell anymore. I have even tried to force myself to drink it and can't do it. Does anyone know why something like this would happen? This is so strange to me. I have to add, my whole tastes have changed also. I use to love chocolate and different other things and can't eat them anymore either. Why would this happen and has it happened to anyone else? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you, Linda |

Linda I have heard that our taste buds change thru-out our lives and sometimes things that we really liked no longer taste the same to us. Maybe that is what has happened to you?

Hi Sadeyes4ever,
Thank you for responding. That must be what happened to me then. I have never had this before as all my life, I have always liked the same things. Now, it's so different. I use to be a chocoholic and now I can't eat chocolate either. It's just so weird. Also, although I have always liked tomatoes, I now crave them. For the last three months, I eat two to four tomatoes a day. Too weird! Talk to you later, Linda |

affect taste. Some cause taste perversion themselves, and others
deplete zinc...when zinc gets low, taste goes out the window. Coffee--good or bad? The studies go back and forth on this. The latest pro coffee one was that it prevents type II diabetes perhaps. http://www.medpagetoday.com/Endocrin...betes/tb1/1306 I know for me...caffeine is very problematic...as I age I get more sensitive to it. So I have to watch it carefully. However, people with ADHD type brains...seem to be able to consume coffee and caffeine in huge amounts, even before bedtime. This is definitely a neuro difference. So making generalizations, on coffee, just won't work for everyone. My MIL can drink Expresso and go right to bed! I'd be up for 2 days! I'd like to see studies eventually on low-arousal vs high arousal types, and caffeine. Maybe someday we will.

Thanks Mrsd for the information on coffee. I know that my daughter and I are both really sensitive to caffeine so for us it probably isn't the best choice. Thanks again
