Thanks! I looked him up last year and nothing was posted. I just looked it up again and found this.

Malpractice Settlements: 08/30/2007 $1,000,000 DEKALB IL

Disciplinary action: 07/31/2008 Reprimand (w/Monitoring) Unprofessional conduct in failure to identify renal failure and bladder cancer and failure to maintain sufficient records.

:yikes:

What really makes me mad is we have talked about when Jim went through kidney failure and how it was missed. I didn't know he also did the same thing. We fired Jim's doctor for missing his kidney failure and reported him. He was demoted to ms research only. I think he's allowed to see ms research patients once a week now.

The new doctor has no legal or disciplinary actions against him. Whew. My first visit with the new doctor will be for meds only and chit chat.

Oh wow and Oh Dear!

Thing about some docs is they are well 'known' for their 'attitudes' and can bad mouth patients so other docs won't want to treat them. SIGH!

Best words to use are: "WE AREN'T COMMUNICATING VERY WELL...AT ALL"
and just leave it at that with any new doc you see. No bad mouthing or the like...good docs KNOW what's really going on and will respect you for your tact.

AFTER you get established comfortably with a new doc, then seek out and complain with your insurance company. The state medical board might have a hard time 'proving' a case of malpractice without new stronger diagnostics [by new docs] to back things up. I know because I've looked into it.

Sounds like this guy is past his prime, and waaay outta date! Go forward and get the testing and treatments you need! Besides, word-of-mouth works many ways? Between docs and more importantly between patients!

Good fortune with new docs and many many 's - j

Save the site Sandy. It can take time for these actions to get posted.

Also, ask if they have proactised in another state. Very important question. Then look up that state.

Hey Sandy! Glad you are seeking a different Dr; that one's sure a ''quacker''. I went through a period a couple of yrs ago of fleeting heart palps too. I was glad to find out mine were from menopause. Hey, a girl can't be too careful. Get thyself checked out and let us know how your'e doing. Sending hugs.

SandyC 04-03-2009 03:11 PM

DM, I am in menopause now so that makes sense. Thanks.

Wow! Glad you found a new Dr. Sounds like the old one might have done you in for sure! You did the right thing!

PolarExpress 04-03-2009 04:33 PM

Ay-i-yi!! He may be a nice old man, but he's acting very unprofessionally (I'm assuming "professional" means something more than making as much money as possible and placating insurance companies..Naive, I know)..I hope your new doc is the one you need. No matter what we think the cause may be, heart palpatations are nothing to mess with. You want to be sure of the cause and the treatment. I'm keeping fingers crossed for you and sending positive vibes your way!

Good for you, Sandy!

I've never heard about the connection between menopause and heart palpitations. (Thanks DM). About 3 years ago, I went to the ER a couple of times and later had some thorough testing done b/c of weird flip-flop sensations in my heart.

Turned out nothing was wrong, and I felt kinda stupid. But I'd rather feel stupid than dead.

Glad you found a new doc, Sandy, and hope he is a good one.

Sandy, it is great you have found another doctor. I to have had to fire doctors before. Bacause of him I seem to have my guard up when seeing new ones, in different field, and that is bad to have.

I really hope this new one will turn out good. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dejibo 04-04-2009 08:22 AM

Whats wrong with you, picking on a senile old man like that?

Actually I am impressed with how long you stayed. I would have been out that door years ago. With all you have on your plate, I am glad you are finally getting some answers for yourself. Hang in there.
