Default Random Acts of Kindness

Do something kind for someone today......it can be someone you know or it can be a complete stranger. Better yet, do it anonymously.

That lady standing behind you in line waiting for her sandwich.....take care of her tab when you pay for yours. Let someone merge in during heavy traffic...even if the cars behind you protest. Drop off some pet food to the local shelter. Take day-old bakery items that the local grocery store cannot sell to a food bank. Take some fresh cut flowers or a pretty card to a nursing home resident - you don't even have to know them.....it'll make their day!

The ideas are endless and don't necessarily have to cost anything (or alot). But the satisfaction you'll get (and give) from a kind, unexpected gesture will be more rewarding than you realize.

If you can't leave the house, make a phone call to just say hello to someone you haven't talked to in awhile.

Ty for a great thread Kitty.

This is something my Mom always does: she always has her camera, taking shots when anything is going on. She'll snap anyone, doing anything, whether she knows them or not. And since she's involved with the Senior organization in town, she's at ALL the town's functions.

When the pics are developed, she makes sure everyone gets pix of themselves having fun - and most times, they have no idea anyone even caught them on film, but they're always tickled anyone took the time.

Mother always taught us to think of others and do something nice for someone each day.

I always try to do something nice for someone like pulling out a grocery cart for another person or taking their cart back to the cart park.

Just a simple act of holding the door open for the next person is wonderful and appreciated and you will probably get a smile and "thank you" in return.

Do one nice thing for someone each day...and get it out of the way early!!

Random acts of kindness make people feel so good. When I see someone I know or don't know. I will compliment them about something example: their hair, the color they are wearing, their jewlry or the smell of their perfume. I know when people do it to me it makes me feel good about myself so they must feel the same.
I am one of those people who believe do unto others have your would have them do unto you. Holding doors, let a car out in heavy traffic, helping a friend in need or someone who isn't a friend but has a need.
I don't know if anyone listens to Joyce Meyer (evangalist) her topic one day last week was just this. She recommended keeping 5.00 gift certificates in your purse and when you see a homeless person in need give them one. The only problem with this is I would buy them and then end up using them for myself. So I better stick with compliments and other good deeds.
I hope you all have a blessed day,
Sherrie

LOL Sherrie!! I'd probably do the same thing!! My budget is so tight that I pretty much have to stick to things that don't cost any money.....but compliments are free and sometimes worth more to a person than something expensive.

True Kitty, and it makes others smile!! I find at work yes, I work with people service and have to be nice of course. But I always surprise many of my customers, cause I will ask them how their day is going?! I manage a McDonald's...and that extra question catches them off guard...or I also do the one with compliments.

thanks for the thread, reminds me of all these other great ideas, thanks, sarah

(carrying something for a woman that has many children in tow is a nice one too, I tend to ask any parent if they are hands full...or anyone in wheel chair etc, if they need me to come around with the tray of their food, and/or help them get the drinks at the self serve)

hugsss

Take a friend's daughter to dance class for her and bring her out for ice cream with your daughter. This way the parents can attend an MS seminar and get some important information to help them. And the next month when they call you to do it again, you do it just because.

I had to buy some stamps today. I always use the coin machine, since hubby dumps his change in my purse everyday. cha ching.

An elderly lady was digging in her purse for change to buy just one stamp at the machine next to me.

I bought her a book. She hugged me and told me she sends one letter a month and asks them to pass the information to the rest of the family. Now she could send a bunch.

Made me wish I had bought her a whole role. I hope I see her there again.
