Default Need opinions on buying my next Microwave

I have always had a microwave in my kitchen. I don't cook in them anymore, just reheat stuff but I really want to get a small one.

I have always had the big ones.

So I went to panasonic.com and there are no little ones. Only the family size.

So does anyone know where I can get one of those 0.7 models (800 or so watts would be just fine).??? do they even make small micros anymore?

Much appreciated.

How about Target, WalMart, KMart, etc. I believe I got my last one at WalMart. However, the next one I get will have more watts - at least 1,000 even though I don't cook in it that much. These are not that big either.

Melody, Get one with the round plate that revolves, so that you don't have uneven cooking/heating & you don't have to stop what you are doing & go turn the food, a few times.

here's search for compact microwaves on amazon.com.-
It will give you ideas of what is out there, prices, and many will have reviews posted -
http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=12410423...%2Cn%3A3741621

and here is site called Shop Local - you can pick your location and do a search for whatever you are shopping for , but not all stores are included. But it's a nice starting point for price checking and such.

I don't cook in mine. I just reheat stuff. So I bought one at Walmart. I got the kind with the revolving dish and with a fair amount of wattage so it's fast. But it was only $79 and it works great. It's got one quirk, though----if we make popcorn in it, it stops and won't go anymore for awhile. I have no idea what the deal is. We usually use a hot air popper anyway, though.

Mine has that and I wouldn't be without it.

I just thought of something. It doesn't but does involve buying a micro. Can I vent?

One Xmas my 3 siblings & I decided to get together & buy my dad a micro. My dh & I found one & told the others the price & we all agreed & we split it 4ways---$35. My sis & bro mailed $ from out of town but my other bro lives close by. That bro never gave us the $ so DH & I put in $35 x 2 ... $70. (He said since he & his 'live in GF' gave him a toaster oven the yr before, they decided to get something else.) I think my dad found out & suggested only getting stuff for $20 (You can't get anything much for $20 so we don't do that anymore). I'll never foget what my brother did, about 15 yrs ago.

Hi.
I've always had one with glass turntables. I have more glass turntables inside my cabinet (from all my old microwaves). I saved the glass thing. I have them in all sizes. I use them as plates or serving dishes. They come in handy.

I thought all microwaves come with revolving turntables. I mean, I haven't seen one with out the glass plate thing ....well, in ages.

And thanks for the comments. I shall try Target Online, or Wallmart online. We don't have any of those stores around by me.

Hey!

While we are on replacing microwaves...

I have one of those GE Sensor microwaves.
The inside has rusted out through the white plastic? coating in the microwave.
It also stopped spinning the plate inside.
(I actually hate those plates. I had one before that didn't have a spinning plate, the cooker thingy rotated in the top. They don't make them anymore cause it's cheaper to make the spinning ones)

I want to replace it with one that has a stainless steel interior.
Does such a beast exist?

I'm looking for a larger one, NOT a compact one.
Anyone have any suggestions or experience with finding a stainless steel interior microwave?

It looks like Cuisinart has on with stainless interior- but some reviews say very noisy... {amazon reviews}

If you get a micro/convection.. those usually have stainless interiors and it looks like prices have come down from a few ears ago.

there are some good review sites that might help you find what you are looking for, but not many tell what the interior is...
