Default Thought for the day

I found this in a woman's daily readings book.
I asked God to pick a page that would speak to me.
I opened the book randomly.
I had a really bad attitude that day and I knew it.
This is what he picked for me:

WE CANNOT CHANGE OUR PAST
WE CANNOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT PEOPLE ACT IN A CERTAIN WAY
THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO
IS PLAY THE ONE STRING WE HAVE
AND THAT IS OUR
ATTITUDE

I knew then that I was not alone, and it was not the people around me that where causing my frame of mind, it was me. When I changed my attitude, it seemed like everyone else did.
I was impressed that I had that much power over people. Ha ha, not true, but it was fun to think that for a moment anyway.

Very cool.

I like this one which sort of moves on from that one.
From "If" - Rudyard Kipling of course.

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;"

Lara,
I like that one, says a lot.
It would be nice if everyone would add their favorite poem
or something to inspires them at their darkest times.
I love reading all of the quotes..........they are really profound.

The Serenity Prayer is and always has been one of mine.
It sure pertains to everyone at one point in life
especially when we are so overwhelmed.

Thanks for sharing.
Hope to talk to you soon.

I like both of those! I use a poem by Helen Stiener Rice. She writes a lot of inspirational poems that really get my spirits lifted.
My favorite one goes like this:

My Favorite Recipie

Take a cup of kindness
And mix it well with love.
Add a lot of patience
And faith in God above.
Mix it very generously
With joy, thanks, and cheer.
And you will have lots of angel food
To feast on all the year.

Wish

Don't get me started... I have so many favourites.
This first one is a parabel and second one a regular quote from HH The Dalai Lama.

"..when you are looking into the ocean trying to locate a fish, you will not be able to find one while the ocean is still and the fish are under the water. But when a wave comes, you will occasionally be able to glimpse the fish."

"I have found that the greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It is the ultimate source of success in life."

Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.

Wish,
I love it, and maybe if we get enough, we can make our own books of things that keep us going.
hugs to you,
Judy

Laura,
Isn't that the truth. It feels so good to make others happy.
Anticipating getting something for myself feels great and then when i get it, it seems to have lost it's importance.
But giving to others stays with one for a very long time.
That genuine warm and fuzzy feeling.
hugs to you and I forgot to send hugs to Lara (hug Lara)

Hi Allfe,
If we had no pain and suffering, we sure wouldn't get as wise as we are, would we?
No pain, no gain they say................
Who made that goofy saying up anyway???????? lol
You're right, we have to be content with ourselves before we can be happy with others.
hugs,
Judy
