The 66 year old woman who's pregnant for the first time is causing quite a stir in England.
Do you think 66 is too old to become a mother? Is it fair to the child? http://abcnews.go.com/International/...7612856&page=1

I was about to type... is it fair to child due to child having to lose you to death, by early age probably....but then I was thinking also, if this child is that wanted most likely will be so very loved... so guess looking thru it... not sure..
I do think it is too old of age to artificially make it happen...so I guess not right and being selfish to wait till that age then decide ..oh I think I will have a baby.... also, just taking care of my llittle ones at age 39 right now, well I know sxs make it harder... but even healthy.... thinking of a little one at ages in the 60s... so my vote is NO not fair.... hugss, sarah

Im forty-five and have a five year old. Its alot of work but
sometimes I think these woman that are older and havent had a baby, just do it....they dont have anything to compare their experience to. Now I had my first when I was 26 and NOW I realize how easy it was when I was younger. these older women dont, so maybe thats good. Okay now that Ive thoroughly confused myself....I will sneak out of this thread

My Mom was 40 when I was born. My sisters were 10 and 16 so I'm pretty sure I was an "oops". But.....she had alot of help with me from my sisters and I'm sure she appreciated it.
I was 22 when my first child was born and 26 when my second was born. I remember how tired I got all those years ago. I wanted to be a younger parent because I remember having an "older" Mom. She still did things with me and didn't become sick and frail with Alzheimer's until I was around 30 but that's still young to lose your Mom. I guess there's pros and cons to both sides. I just cannot fathom having a baby at 66. She'll be 80 when the child becomes a teenager! Good luck trying to keep up with that!!

My grandma practically raised me and my siblings. She died at the age of 71. That's all I am saying on it. lol

I heard about your teen years Sandy....
It's not just the raising..but phyically you heal and recoup faster at a younger age. I had Lil'Monkey when I was 30. I had her on a Saturday. Drove myself in a standard Bronco. Came home Sunday and was back to work Monday. If I had a baby now...no way. Add in the factor that I had better be treated like a Queen Bee.... I wish this woman and her baby well.

I just wonder, why didn't she have any kids before now? I mean, she didn't think when she was in her 20's, 30's, maybe to get married (or not) and have a baby, but now it occurs to her.
Hmmm.... For me, I'm glad I had my kids when I was young - 20 and 26. I was 43 when the grandbaby came along, and she's a handful. I doubt I would have had kids after 40 myself, but I guess it would be okay to either have them all when you're young or all of them when you're older - to do both seems like it would be the hardest. I just figured if I had them young, i'd probably live through it, see them have kids and still have enough left in me to have a life of my own after they were grown - still waiting to see if that pans out.

I was first married at 17 and had my son when I was 20. I only wanted one child because I always felt so inferior to my pretty and smart younger sister and never wanted a child of mine to feel they were never good enough. Anyhow; no regrets at all because I was young enough to enjoy his childhood, survive his teen years and have kept most of my sanity! I have two Granddaughters ages 9 and 18 and though we don't spend enough time together as they are in Ohio we e-mail and chat often. I vote for having children when you are young enough to remember where you put them, their names and their Daddys name!

My mother was 42 when I was borned, I believe I was an accident. I have a sister 22 years older and a brother 11 years older. Looks like our parents could only handle one at a time. My DH's mother was 42 also when he came along. His sister is 10 years older. That why to see why ours are only 22 months apart.
