Anybody remember Wild Root Hair Oil for men? My dad was a teen in the '50s and he wore his hair with the little rolled back duck tail in the front. He used Wild Root to obtain this affect. Well they stopped making it sometime in the 80s. He had to use mousse instead ... he thought that was so sissy. Funny thing, Wild Root came back on the market about 6 months after he died in 1996. I bought a bottle for nostalgia reasons... the smell reminds me of my daddy.

Oh, I think Avon brought back Sweet Honesty... my mom gave me some for my birthday a couple of years ago.

I miss Klackers ... try explaining those to your kids! mine were neon purple.

Ah yes..WackyClackers. Taken off the market as a major safety hazard when they'd shatter & put an eye out or worse..Mine were red, never shattered, but banged me up pretty good when I missed..Good times, good times..
You know, Kitty, you can still get candy necklaces, dots, pixi stix, bit o'honey, and Boston Baked Beans candy..Since I decided never to "officially" grow up (only on paper), I get 'em all the time. ..Still got all my own teeth, too!
We used to walk to the dime store every Saturday (when we got our allowances) and pick out new, cool looking Hot Wheels cars. Build whole towns in the driveway. That was fun! I should see if my son left any of his here....

Sandy...I miss the penny candy too.......remember some were 3 for 1 penny. Then they would put your candy in those little brown paper
bags We would gather up our pennies then head down the road to
the corner store at the end of our street.........yup, good times....good times.

Awww, but for me it was such a tough decision: buy 12 penny candies, or spend the 12 cents on a Casper (the friendly ghost) comic book!

Things haven't changed a bit: I Still can't make decisions.

Wait! Maybe I can!

No ... false alarm. *sigh

Honestly I don't remember Sweet Honesty. But I remember Heaven Sent. Or was it Scent?

I used to swoon when a date wore Elgin (I think?)

Yep, my sis and I had klackers.

Know what I found last Christmas? Those fake little ice cream cones! I got a pack and taped one to each of the little kids' gifts! WAY better than bows to 3 yr olds.

In Pemberville Ohio, there is an old fashioned store where you can still buy penny candy, and they have all the old dry goods on display too if you ever come out this way.

I've been keeping up with this thread and really getting a kick out of remembering so many things from my childhood.

Here is a link to a really cool place, they have lots of things from the past (although some IMO a bit expensive). http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/Shop
