These are you exact words "Try not to make it to long, because they are testing you the whole time. If you can sit and type out long letters than you can work."

I didn't say limit and how long to long is, and here is how they determine disability. (see link) I have seen this more than once, If you don't have representation this is how it goes, did you do this yourself? How long did it take you? So your fingers work. You can stay on task? Do you answer the phone? Do you do chores? Have you tried our ticket to work program? Be my guest make your application long without any medical or psychological proof and odds are you will get denied.

wdwgranny, I am so sorry for the confusion being generated on your threads by some of those replying contradicting one another this way. I hope you are able to figure out what the correct advice is :o

To the members who are going back and forth on who is right and who wrote what and whatever.............
I posted this on the other thread, but it seems I have to repeat it here again

Quote:

ok I am going to have to intervene here and ask those members who are turning this into a back and forth of who said what and what is right to please not do this here!

it becomes very very confusing for members who ask a question to follow what is going on when their thread turns into this kind of dispute

we appreciate that their are members who either have legal or personal experience with the system and are trying to be helpful. But having these personal back and forths on a thread isnt helping...it only adds confusion

please, if a member feels someone has posted incorrect information, just post what you believe is correct, without calling each other out this way. It might also be helpful to discuss with each other via PM what you feel is incorrect information and then make edits as needed, or contact us with edits you need done

again we appreciate members giving of their time to add their experienced or expert opinion. But there is going to have to be a balance here please

My husband had to fill out an Adult Function report. The report said it should take 30 minutes to read and fill out. That was ridiculous. It took him 3 days. I also had to fill one out on him and I stated that fact (that it took him 3 days to fill out the "30 minute" report) in my report.
He was approved first try, within 2 months after applying.
But we did copy and send in all of his MRI reports, VA and Ortho reports. Sleep study, etc.
The Ortho report said even surgery would not give him back normal use of his arms, and I think that report clinched it for him. We had no lawyer, just filed on our own and made sure that all reports were sent in with the SSD application.

It is silly what is required. I found myself wondering if they were testing just how sick I really was. I received the SSA Function Report, along with 2 DDS forms for Pain & Fatigue, all at the same time, for a total of 19 pages. The cover letter stated they must be returned withinin 15 days from the date of the letter. The letter was dated Monday of one week, but not postmarked until Friday. By the time I received them, I had one day to complete so they could be back in the 15-day time frame. It was impossible.

The pain questionnaire was the last one I completed, and by that time I was getting snappy. For one question I responded "Asked and answered, see question 5". Another I answered "This is redundant". But my personal best was in response to the question that asked what activity caused me the greatest pain. I responded "Filling in 19 pages of forms".

They approved me at the initial determination level, so I guess I didn't do myself that much harm.
