Default SSI and SSDI

I was approved for SSDI in May. Can I collect SSI also. I am 24 years old.

I could be totally wrong, but I don't think you can. I used to do AR years ago and my boss said that you can not collect both. She was a mean moron though, so I don't know 100%.

You can if your SSDI amount is low enough....and if you don't live with someone else who has a reasonable income.

I called SS, I got it figured out. If anyone is interested. You can collect both, only if your income, which includes SSDI, is under a certain amount. Which is at $662 right now. This is for MN, the amount is probably different for each state.

Yes, you can if your income is low enough and your assets are limited. The maximum federal benefit for SSI is $637 a month for a single person and $956 for a couple. The maximum an individual can earn is $637 a month (maybe a bit highr for 2010) and for a couple it's $956. Assets can't exceed $2,000 for a single person and $3,000 for a couple. Exceed either income or assets and you are not eligible.
Some states (like CA) give SSI recipients additional allotment.
