Question how long does it take to get your medicare card?

Hello everyone, I was wondering how long you guys and gals have waited to get your medicare card in the mail?

I applied for SSDI in July 2007 was approved for SSDI in September 2009 following a hearing.

I revieved my backpay in January 2010 dating back to July 2007

eligable for medicare affective July 2009.

still have not recieved my medicare card.

I have been recieveing monthly checks for over three months now and they are not deduction the $110 part B premuim for my monthly check.

I have tried calling the local office about my medicare; but they aren't able to give out any specific answers.

I am worried because my health insurance runs out on 04/2010!

I see my Dr. every 1-3 months for some major mental/nerological disorders.

I also take prescription meds. They cost $1700 per month!

Anyone have any expierences/advice?

Thank You!

Did you sign up for medicare part B? Or part D (prescription coverage)?
Part A is automatic, but B, D, and advantage plans are not.

If not, you can do it online. However, you may have to pay the cost of these plans from your date of eligibility (July 2009).

BTW, I got my card in the mail a couple of months BEFORE my Medicare eligibility began. BUT, I got disability within a year of applying.

Something doesn't "sound" right. I wonder if your card was lost in the mail or stolen.

Definitely call you local office, don't call the #1-800 look on your paper work and see if you can find your case worker. Something is definitely wrong. If you can't get through to your case worker demand to speak to a supervisor. Tell them how many times you called and have not received a call back. If you still can't get an answer make an appointment and go down there with all you paper work.

I received my medicare care a month after I got my back pay. You should really go down to your local social security office. When you got your letter breaking down how you would be paid monthly it also stated in that same letter when your medicare card would come. They must have made a mistake somewhere.

Good Luck...

Just today I had to call my local SS office to update my address because I wasnt getting any info even though my backpay had been deposited. Once they updated my address I mentioned that I hadnt gotten a medicare card either. She was able to pull that info up and simply request a new card. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks. This isnt something you have to make a trip in person to do. Just give them a call and they will take care of it for you. Best bet would be to google your local office and call them rather than the nationwide 800#.
