no letter just a general question:
some posters here said ssd called to tell them they were approved , and then later they got a letter saying they were approved.
i was just wondering when i check the mail every day , and if i did get a letter i am deading opening it , and was wondering IF you didnt get a call first then i could asume it is a denial letter or is there really no way to second guess the system lol..

There is really no way to second guess. I think it is unusual for you to get a call first. Even the SSA website states the decision will come in a letter.

I did find out by phone first, but that was only because my decision took 9 months, had been through a DQB review, and I finally started calling myself to find out about the delay.

one thing I was told was to call who ever it is with your case and make sure they have revived all your medical records if they only get one file and you have like 4 dr they will there ruling with what ever they have you see that is better for them if your doctors do not send the info to them then they can put from the info they have we find you able to work witch is p.s if they hade all you records it may have been enough to get you your ssdi it's just one of the things I've seen happen they did it to me I called them and they said that the review dr had my files I ask what doctors sent files and they only hade 2 of the 5 doctors that I hade seen so I made calls to my docs amd made sure they all sent out my med files I think this my help you let me know what you find out you have to watch them like a hawk lol they are always looking for a way out of paying you so make sure u call and ask your case worker
Good Luck. Walkerslbje

Smirk new user

not quite sure what to put in here. on 12/5/09 i walked to work just around the block from my house. i was at work for a half hour and my left foot went numb then within a few minutes the rest of my leg all the way to my hip went numb. and my ankle kept turning outward and i kept falling i could not walk right then pain started in my thigh. went to er and ruled out a blood clot they set me up with a neurologist who thought it was a possibility of a psciatic nerve, went to neurosurgeon who seen me for 10 minutes without even touching me and said it was diabetic neuropathy and i could go back to work. i went back and kept falling down and my ankle and foot was swelled up. my work asked if i could work a whole day by myself {i am a cashier, that takes care of three different counters and its fast paced, and the floor is made of tiles that are uneven which is why i kept falling}i told my boss that she may want to have someone on stand by in case i could'nt finish my shift she called our big boss and he said to get rid of me, but that after i was better i could come back because i was one of the best employees that they ever had. sorry enough about that. guess i am still a little ticked off about that. went back to the neurologist for another nerve conduction test and it was worse than the first one. I have now been diagnosed with peripheral polyneuropathy with drop foot. thanks for listening. looking forward to being a member.
