Exclamation SSDI Appeal Hearing decision question;Help

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I just had my SSDI hearing on 5-28-2010. I called my local office where the hearing was held. They told me judge made his decision on 6-11-2010 and that I would be receiving a letter from OHA in Virginia. I'm hopeful ,with the quick decision, that I would be approved. The actual hearing went well. The vocational expert said NO to all jobs and I had excellent(a lot) of medical records. Called lawyer and paralegal said she never heard of them sending decisions from OHA in Fall Church, VA. She was clueless. Anybody know the procedure. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you're from Virginia. OHA if the Office of Hearings and
Appeals which your judge works for. Each state has it's own procedures although you would think the lawyer would know. Ask the hearing office if sending the letter from Fall Church is typical practice.

Confused

Thank you guys for the support. Was so happy to finally get a hearing, I totally forgot about the stress potential of the wait.
SSDI Help, seems you have knowledge of the procedure. I'm actually in Alabama; had hearing in Montgomery. It's a possibility that I didn't hear the local hearing office lady right. She said judge submitted his decision on 6-11-2010 and it was transmitted to the national center. I THINK she said Falls Church,VA, but it could have been Maryland ( bad short term memory). Anyway, local office said I should receive a letter from the NATIONAL office within two weeks of June 11. I think she said it would be a large sized letter. Any more insight? This is driving me even more insane. Thanks for the well wishes and anymore possible info.

Mappie---yes, i twill be a large letter. If it were my lawyer, if the vocational expert said there were no jobs, he would say you have it in the bag. I don't want to get your hopes up or anything, I seriously don't because God forbid you are not approved, but it sounds to me like a win!
Each day till the letter gets there will seem like forever---try to occupy yourself with stuff to do each day. I got my letter 9 days early. Our wait time in PA is a month.
OKey doke! Take care! My thoughts are with you!

First off congrats on winning. I won on June 24th last year and my monthly benefits started in August. So basically 2 months. The backpay can be from 1 month to over 6 months. It just varies. You may qualify for SSI if your family income meets the standards. You will find all of this out soon. At least you have about a 20 ton elephant lifted off of you now.
