Thank you all for the help!

I have one big........well,problem though. We have $43,000 in the bank from an inheirtance i received a couple years ago.We have not spent much at all knowing i am unable to work. From what i read this would be a big problem meeting the requirments?

I know i could easily spend that having our old house fixed up some and then apply but this terrifies me again, knowing i am unable to work

Should we take it and play red or black?

Kiddin...any further suggestions?

That's a scary choice. At least if you put the money into the mortgage, you might be able to borrow it back again if you need it. If you put it into repairs, you day to day life might be easier but your safety net would be gone. There's no guarantee that you'll even be found disabled for SSI and SSA will not make a decision if you have excess resources.

Why not try to work enough to earn the quarters you need? 12 hours a week at $8 per hour might be enough for four quarters in 2011.

Thank you to all that posted previously, but the thread had gone off track a bit, those have been removed.

bumping up the original for any other on topic replies for Point Blank.
