You should also receive letters from SSDI or SSI. Probably several letters, some will say one thing and then some will say something totally different. You'll probably spend a lot of time on the phone, but you've already been doing that. Then again everything could go smoothly. I hope for the latter.

P.S. If that is your picture you look like your holding up pretty well, but your eyes do look a little tired. Oh I just read you've been crying, I wouldn't call it being a cry baby with what you are going through. It's better to get it out then hold it in.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's stroke.

Remember that even if/when he gets approved for SSDI, Medicare doesn't kick in for 2 years from his date of disability. I don't know if you can still get COBRA coverage from your job or if you will need to apply for Medicaid, but don't let your health insurance coverage lapse !

Take Care.

Default Ss and Insur ...

Well Social Security called today he will be sending out the Med Releases to the Doctor and Rehab that my husband is going to, this week 3month progress and recovery period is over, so I'm hoping that the Doc and Therapy get the records out quick and on the down side
Hubby s LTD Insurance that he took out at work is closing the claim until they receive some more documents yet again .... but I got that under wraps this week seems to me like there are just keep prolonging the claim on purpose (just a feeling I got) and I will be faxing every single paper I got right over to them !!
I am at my wits end with all this crap ...

Okay, quick update, Husband received letter from SS with an appt. to go see their Dr. on Dec 23. As for my Husband we are taking day by day, going to Speech therapy 2x a wk Physical and Occupational 3x a wk and saying my prayers everyday <3 He has more vocabulary now but still cannot give you a sentence or hold a conversation, he is starting to say NO instead of YES TO EVERYTHING ... LOL, he can walk with a quad cane his right arm is still very weak and weaker in his hand, no grip.and of course his spirits and attitude is what keep ME GOING, so crazy so unbelievable ... I m just so amazed at how this man who has had this severe stroke ~ which affected his speech and the movement of his right side has the ability to lift not only my spirits but others .
YES THIS IS A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY <3
So wish us luck and a lil pray for next week !

That's good news and an inspiration. It is always important to be upbeat and positive EXCEPT when having a consultative exam by Social Security. Then he needs to be brutally honest about his limitations. High spirit and good attitude will get him through life but he doesn't want to minimize the effects of the stroke when he is examined by SSA. He wants to be sure that the examining doctor can observe his disabilities more than his abilities. Yes, it can be a bit demoralizing, but he needs to be sure that the examining doctor doesn't write down that he said he has no problems. List all the problems. All of them. Memory, speech, gait, weakness, grip, depression, lethargy. How much exertion tires him out, how much weight can he lift and carry and for how long and how far. Be honest, not positive.

Hi Guys
Oh don't get me wrong the man is in pain !
You can't even touch his right hand .. he so protective of it to
and the arm he can not extend out he can bend it from the elbow
with ALL THE STRENGTH THAT HE CAN and what a struggle that is even
looks like by his face
You can obviously see that his walking with a quad cane
that he NEEDS TO GET AROUND cause he cannot go to far with out one
In the house I when he is up and walking around he stops and I have to straighten his toes out cause they are so curled up and tight .
He has a few tremors throughout the day on the right side.
Still needs some assistance with his daily living u know Sh* Shower and Shave .. etc that type of stuff. Getting up of the Chairs, bed I so afraid that he will fall outta of bed when getting out ... he has once already that was a nitemare, trying to get him up !!
So I m hoping once the Doc ACTUALLY SEES him it will tell him right away
that yeah the man has a disability there is no denying that
Thanks

Hi Everyone
Well just an update on my Hubby's SS Doctors Visit today ...
OMG the Dr might have been in the room a TOTAL OF 3 MIN.
Really not much was said due to my husband having Aphasia
and he basically asked when he had the stroke I told him and he
said that no need
to explain I have all the details in front on me (nicely of course).
He asked him how he was walking and of course my husband looks at
me in return to answer him so I told him that he basically answers yes to everything and is now beginning to answer with a No, told him that he can walk with a shuffle and the hand still has no movement, so it seemed to me that it was just one look from the dr so they can clearly see indeed what physical shape he is in, but the dr was a nice guy wrote down that he has aphasia told my husband he had seen a lady who only said NO and don't give up, keep on fighting .. and of course my husband got choked up which in turned had the friggin tears weld up in my eyes and our way we shuffled with the doc "wishing us luck and hopefully we'll have no problems "... and that was basically the end of it .. the nurse was in the room longer then the dr taking my my hubby's vital signs, so I guess we just have to wait on feedback from SS Office.

Hi Everyone.
Omg I'm so mad ... I just saw on my CELL PHONE that I had a missed call ... IT WAS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY. So now I have to wait until Monday to call them back ... what could they be calling for ? Just wondering what kind of "sign" this means ... any suggestions ?

Usually when they call it's to tell you about receiving your benefits. You haven't gotten an approval letter yet? It's been almost 5 months correct? So that would be about right. Have you been taking care of yourself as I asked? I hope so.
