In any case, I have a condition for which there is no cure and not much scientific knowledge. The odds of my situation changing are very, very low. I'll just have to deal with the obligations that come with the program. |

Hi everyone,
I had my call with SS this morning. The lady was very nice, and we just covered basic questions about my assets/income/living conditions. In the end, I was told that I'd be receiving monthly benefits, and that I would also get back pay. She could only release around $2000 up-front, and there would be more in 6 months. Medicaid is also there for me. So, at long last, the application process is over with. I am very relieved. |

Hi. im new to this and i was wanting to know if anyone has ever had an On The Record Decision???? I have had an anxiety disorder for over 9 years and i have 9 years worth of medical records of my treatment that my doctor has giving. My disorder has ruined my life. The alj got my medical records on Nov 1st 2010 and and i call ssd offcial yesterday and they said she made a decision nov 8th and then closed my case. I was wondering if this is good or bad? And is an otr hard to get approved? I do have a lawyer and he is the one who requested the otr... thanks, for any comments that r helpful. |

on the record decision is a decision that is made without a hearing. that means you were approved.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to provide a little update. Although I have not received my award letter, it appears everything is going well for the resolution of my case. I checked my bank account online this morning, for unrelated reasons, and was surprised to find that the first installment of my back pay had already been deposited! This took about six days after my phone interview with the local SS office. All that remains is to see what my monthly benefit will be, and to get other things like Medicaid settled. Thanks for your support! |

Hi everyone,
Quick question. I am still unclear on how I am allowed to spend my SSI back pay, enough that I'm afraid to. Would it be okay to buy a laptop with it? Am I allowed to use it however I want? I know the monthly benefit (small as it is) must go towards necessities, but the backpay is confusing me. Thank you! |

Go buy a laptop ! Great sales going on right now. If you have some left over, I would prepay for internet connection/dsl for awhile. You need to spend the SSI backpay within a few months.....being practical and prepaying for internet service will help you avpid adding another monthly bill to your budget.
