I recieved my fully favorable decision letter on April 1. The date was sometime the end of March. I had applied for both SSD and SSI but after talking with the office this week I withdrew my SSi because of my resources. So now I am waiting on my backpay and my monthly payments. When talking to her she said she would send it over for payment processing. How long did it take for any of you to get your money and payments started? I am just curioius and excited. I just was trying to get a time line in my head. Thank you!

I was approved 9/20/2010. I had my first monthly payment end of October. I did not realize they put me in for SSI, which I was not eligible for, so I withdrew that in December. I had to go to my congressman to get help for my backpay. I did not need a lawyer for my initial application so did not have one to help. They only owed me three months backpay because I was approved quickly. So, it took about 7 months to get backpay for me. Who knows how long if my congressman had not helped. I have a friend in another state who works in the determination office, and she looked at my file and saw no reason it was being held up. That is why I decided to ask the congressman's help. SS just kept telling me they would send an inquiry and to call back in 45 days.

My wife received her positive judgement Nov.2 2010. She received her monthly payment quickly and sense her case reached back almost 4 years she received medicare very quickly, a couple of weeks perhaps. She has not received her 3.5 years retro pay yet and our congressman is also involved.

I got my first check on the sixth month after I applied. That was because of the 5 month waiting period. Which they subtract from any back pay if your case went longer to come to a decision.

I was approved in february and most of my back pay has been sent out and was in my bank after 4 weeks. Pretty fast compared to how long the whole process took to win my SSDI. Good luck, hope it comes soon for you.
