Default Wife lost her job.

My wife found out today that the company she works for will be closing their doors in about a month. With her on unemployment and me on ssdi, we will not be able to make ends meet. We have already cut back on our expenses a great deal because she took a pay cut a few months ago so there aren't many other ways we can cut back. If I was not disabled I would gladly take another job so we could make ends meet, but we are screwed because I cannot work. God help us

So sorry to hear. I hate to hear such sad news! I have not been following this story as I have been soo busy with my husbands health issues. Are you on SSI? Welfare? Do you own a home? Would a move to a another state or area of your state help? Hang in there and stay positive, in the end things will work out.

So sorry to hear this Shellback. I can understand your concern and of course I would be upset too. Although this doesn't make things any better, at least they did give her a month notice so hopefully she will be able to find something before her current job ends.

God will help you if you continue to trust in Him. It may not be in ways that you expect but if you place your faith in Him, He will take care of all your needs.

Keep the faith. I'll continue to pray for you and your wife.

Shari

I don't know your total situation but there is always Bankruptcy. They usually let you keep your house and car and you could probably wipe out your credit card debt since you have limited income and you can't work.

So sorry to hear about your situation. All I hear on the news now-a-days is how the economy is picking up yet, they never mention any of the businesses that are doing the hiring.

You live in the same state as I do. There are quite a few programs you & your wife can get onto especially if wify cannot find another job in the near future.

Hang in there!

That may just be the way we will end up going. We have been talking about filing for bankruptcy for a while now because my wife saw the writing on the wall and knew it was just a matter of time before she would be let go. She works in the mortgage industry and there are very few opportunities for work these days.

Shell, not sure if your wife can do this but my wife was told a month ago her hours are going from 40 to 30 and maybe lower in about a month. So she looked into those jobs that stock magazines and the like in grocery stores. She has an interview this week. It pays around $10 an hour. It is part time howeve or at least my wifes position is going to be. There may be full time opportunities out there. She found the website that shows the openings nationwide. Believe me I know your pain. We have 3 daughters 1 in college and 1 17 and the other 11 with Cystic Fibrosis. We squeeze every penny out of a dollar. Another thing you may try is sell on Ebay. I sell tickets and collectibles online. You can go to auctions and buy items there and sell them online. If you have any questions on Ebay shoot me a line. I may be cheating the system but I do not turn this in as income. When times are hard we become resourceful. I started going back to church and putting things in God's hands and so far he is helping. Hang in there.

Is selling on Ebay(and the such)be considered as work? Where is the line drawn on that situation? People do it as a business, where others sell a few things.

Default hi shellback

Hello shell back, I am sorry you both are having trouble to make ends meet. I am having the same problem. I can't afford to live in a paid for home. I don't get enough to pay all utilities, and my taxes. I am in danger of loosing this home and I cut back as much as humanily possible. I live in Fla. Do I not service my airconditioner and risk it for another summer? It is money issues like that. The extras always happen with a house. I really feel for all of us in a lower standard of life due to health. ginnie
