I just wish the government would quit playing games and keeping everyone in the dark. They know how much money will be in the till on Wednesday and they know who will get paid and who won't get paid. If they don't,they don't have a clue what they're doing.

Oh, I got the information wrong on Alan's letter from SS Administration. They are going to take out the WHOLE amount in October ($139.00) and then he'll go back to getting what he was originally getting and that will return in November.

And from what I have read on the internet, they are doing this to many people.

that's one way to collect revenues.

Why were some folks overpaid? Didn't they question why there was more money in their check? I'd want to know why and, if I thought it was in error, I'd want to hang onto the overage amount in case they wanted it back. Then, if they did deduct that amount from a later check I'd still have the extra on hand to make up for it.

I have no idea but if you google the subject you will find that lots of people get these types of letters. People on SSD and SSI, etc.

And in my husband's letter it said that this stemmed from 2006. My husband was a security guard and worked for a short time via the Social Security Ticket to Work program.

So during this time, somebody made a $139.00 error and it shows up 5 years later???

Really??

In Derrick's case its because the people who worked at the office when
it happened didn't put in Derrick's money amounts from his pay.

I have been fighting this. But its called beauricracy.

Hi. A little pamphlet came with the letter from the Social Security Admin. There is a form that one can fill out if one doesn't agree with the money being taken out. One can request a waiver so they don't take out the money.

Alan is filling out the form and will mail it in.

So we shall see

My jaded opinion...

This is just another Reality TV show (Remember when they started? During the writers' strike? Then stayed forever because they're so cheap to produce.)

All US gov shows end up with the same subtitle, stolen from Shakespeare: Much Ado about Nothing.

So they're gonna "compromise" by cutting lots of government programs but not increasing income thru tax increases. Make of that what you will.

Of course that was what the Republican plan offered weeks ago. So where's the "compromise"????

Why have we been put thru this????????

Why do we let ourselves be?

If there is spending cuts, people will be losing their jobs.
When do they start mailing out SS checks for Wednesday delivery-is it Monday afternoon? What if no deal is done-do they still mail out the checks?
We should know late tomorrow about the certainty of receiving next months SS checks.

I think MOST checks are direct deposit from the Treasury of the United States. There will be an announcement (probably by tomorrow) and we'll all breathe sigh of relief.

Just imagine though. There is no cash invoved. Everything is bonds, IOU's Trillions of Dollars in Debt (which will still be there).

Have we EVER operated in the Black??? In our lifetime I mean?

Babyboomer15 07-31-2011 10:23 AM

Up until recently-I was receiving my check through the mail. It would take at least 2 days to be mailed and received.
Yeah-the troops overseas want to know if there are getting paid-also.
I don't see how they could pay some and not others electronically for SS.

I think we all just need to remember this is there way of saying
we are working. Ugh, I don't believe its working.

But I will be looking to find ways to stop putting in the idiots,
that just want to spend more of the money we don't have.

Start wars we don't need.
