What happens to everyone's Medicare if the August SS checks aren't sent out?

It is my own personal opinion that the checks will go out. You can't just push a button nor cherry pick who gets paid and who doesn't. The process (systems) is far more intricate than that and would take weeks to months to re-program. It was despicable for him to even suggest a thing. I agree with lefthanded; SS has been running a surplus.

I certainly hope you two are right. I just asked my doctor to change my prescriptions from monthly refills to 3-month refills. They're both generic so it won't bankrupt me to have them filled. I at least want to know I've got enough meds to last me a few months.

Thank God for LTD. Thats my back-up plan. I wonder if they have the funds to cover everyone that has a claim with them who is also collecting SSDI. Is SSI paid out by the states? If so,I can't see that being effected.

That's a very good question. Because they take money out of the checks every month to PAY MEDICARE.

You posted a VERY good question.

Can't wait until we get some answers.

Yeah, but everyone I know who is on Social Security and is either on Medicare or a Medicare HMO, well they have a certain amount taken out every month and that goes to their medicare insurance coverage.

This will affect everybody if this thing is not fixed.

I'm too scared to look into it. We all need to pray it doesn't happen.

Hi everyone

Just a reminder about our guidelines on Politics
Quote:
- Limit your direct discussion of politics, as people usually hold pretty strong opinions about this topic. Use the Politics Icon when posting a political thread. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=1293
It is fine to have this discussion, but not to turn the topic to debate over politics or specific politicians

So please do not name politicians in ways that are possibly reflecting a negative political debate.
Social Security is a GOVERNMENT controlled issue, not one of any single politician or party.

Well, *the President* just spoke for 45 minutes. No one asked the big question: "Are the social security checks going out on the 3rd"? No one!!! Why did NO ONE ask this question?"

Of course, he never mentioned it. He did mention he wants social security and medicare for future generations. That much I got.

But no mention about August 3rd.

OMG!!
