Default LTD carrier and payout?

Hello, so my LTD carrier sends this man to my home to discuss the continuation of my payments(the difference of what CPP gives me), the small amt that I get goes into a savings acct towards my retirement, now my husband figures out how much LTD will have to pay me up to the age 65 (I'm 52) and says he thinks they want to pay me out. Well this guys gets into his spiel and says it cost my carrier admin fees and employee fees to keep me on a monthly basis and asks if I have any debts that need paying off or if I am in need of cash, I advised him I am not desperate, no debts not rich mind you and what kind of cash are you talking about, more spieling trying to make it pretty, he then offers me $15,000 to settle, my husband laughing stated that the offer is a slap in the face, that it is not even 50% of what they will have to pay me and cannot invest that amt and make what they have to pay, which did not seem to bother this guy, I asked if I can barter this offer, he said well I guess you can try, which I know they will barter they want to get rid of me surely, my problem is I am not sure what I should ask for? This is guarenteed monthly income and the amt of money they have to pay me is 40,000. I know I do not have to settle for a lump sum meaning they cannot force me to settle, Any suggestions I feel like I should go high???
Thanks in advance, Bunz
