Default Going to work

I am new to this forum and joined today. I am looking for information for a close friend that has been on SSDI for several years and wants to try to work.
She was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder but feels that she can handle full time employment and wants to try.
What she is concerned about is that when she becomes employed and notifies the SSA that they will contact her employer and cause her to lose the job. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this situation?
Does anyone know if the SSA does in fact contact the employer?
Thanks for any info you may have.

Not routinely but when the recipient fails to report wages, SSA will eventually find out and then will send a request to the employer to get the information that is needed.
