Default Help someone

I applied for disability January 2008 was immediately denied and I asked for a reconsideration which also denied. I asked for a hearing before an ALJ which took place April 13, 2011. The judge said at the hearing that he would approve me. Received a Fully favorable letter dated June 27, 2011. Received awards letter from Social Security stating monthly benefit amounts and saying will receive first monthly check August 3, 2011. Received Red, white and blue Medicare card. Onset date January 10, 2008. Waiting for back pay. Have direct deposit can anyone tell me when I will receive back pay. Went to interview at local office and was told I was in pay status what does that exactly mean? I did not receive SSI nor did I have an Attorney I represented myself.

You should be receiving your DD backpay very soon. Suggest that you check your acct every day.

Folks, it could be 30 days, it could be 6 months.

But in my opinion the fact that they are telling you that its coming is a good
start.

One thing you can do, is call them and ask when it will be.

This might help speed it along. But it might not also.

The regularly monthly ones though will start on August 3rd. That is the
good news.

Congratulations.

Donna

I may be wrong but, Medicare is for people 65 or older and regular Social Security checks are issued the 3rd of the month and SSDI on the 1st of the month. I'm assuming your back pay is for a claim you filed before you turned 65, correct?

You can be on Medicare
1. at age 65
2. after 24 months of entitlement to SSDI
3. if you are diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (dialysis) or have Lou Gherig's disease.

Social Security checks are issued on the third if you are an SSI recipient also. Several years ago, SSA started staggering the issuing of checks throughout the month based on the day of birth of the recipient, so the checks can be issued the first Wednesday, second Wednesday, etc.

I am not 65. they said I qualified because you have to be disabled and receiving benefits for 2 years. Because my wait has been over two years I receive medicare. I am still waiting on my back pay as of this date but did receive my first monthly benefit check on the third of August.
