Default Update: Received Awards Letter!

Hi All,

Wanted to update since you all have been so helpful with information lately. I received my awards letter from SSD, I will get my back pay in a few days, however there are some gliches that will need to be adjusted on SSD part. They still have me collecting 100% TTD from WC , which is incorrect of course! I am at permanent partial 75%. I called the 1-800 # right away and spoke with a very helpful friendly woman, which is rare. Back in the day of my original WC attorney, I was less than satisfied with his work, so I applied to the NYS WC Board to have access to my own WC file online, which has proven to be a godsend! I was able to give the woman on the phone at SSD my correct income from comp., with the exact date of pay change..as we spoke she was entering all information in her computer and told me to send in a copy of the paper I had showing this information (I said I would personally bring it in). They then verify it with the WC IC and make the necessary adjustments. I am thinking, could this really be this easy? I hope so.

The difference is enough to give me a nice extra chunk of back pay! I hope that is how it will all work out

The recomputation is not done based on a phone call. The documents are submitted to your local office and given to a claims representative. This can be complicated or simple. Sometimes there is an exception and it has to be fixed in the payment center. May take awhile to fix. May be right away. Can't tell.

I understand it is not done with just a phone call. That is why the woman told me to provide a copy to the SS office and I offered to bring it in, so they could verify it with the WC IC office more quickly rather than wait for me to mail it in etc. However, I was pleased that she was at least entering the information in the system as we spoke instead of saying " they can handle it all when they receive the documentation you submit." I have so far been fortunate since my appeal was submitted in October, we received the favorable decision at the end of October and having WC invovled still, things seem to be going well...SO, I am pretty happy with the way things have been going for me so far.

I have heard some rather horrible stories for a lot of people and just thought I would share a positive story. The $$$$ matters not at this point, the financial damage is done already for me and there is no digging out of the debt but there are better days ahead for my health I hope!

Again, I would like to thank the folks who have shared their knowledge, kindness and support!! I still plan on being around as some things don't change!

Well I actually received some of my back pay yesterday the 1st. I brought SS the paperwork for them to correct their error and my attorney is also contacting them via phone & mail. So it will change everything. They will owe me even more back pay. They had me collecting $500 more a month from comp than I actually was(because my rate had changed) so they had reduced their part that much for 9 months. It will be a mess considering they already paid me back pay for 11 months ...blah...blah...blah...but I am ok with that. At least I received a small chunk for now, it helps for the holidays and of course with the bills.

Thanks. I like to spend on others, that makes me feel good, so I bought some xmas gifts for my siblings (we do not exchange gifts) we just buy for all the kids.(I don't have any, so I spoil theirs) I treated myself to some shopping when I was very down a few months ago and bought myself a bunch of new stuff!! I spent bigger this year on the kids whether I was gonna have this $$$ or not...so, I am grateful and at ease
