How often do they review your claim?

I won my case back in August of 2010the and i have yet to recive s request for a review of my Disability, i see my Dr every month, and my back has only gotten worse, witch my Dr had. wrote in my file, My Dr tells me that i will end up in a wheelchair, just not sure when, and that is why he does not want me to have to work, i get very little sleep, and am at a pain level of about 6the or 7you most days, but there are a few days a month where i have a hard time getting out of bed,and my back locks up like 2 or 3 times a week and it takes a good. 5 to 10 mins to just get up! mind you this is with pain meds! but i try to stay positive, i have brautiful kids and a wonderful wife, they are what keeps me going,so should i expect. a review some time in the neer future? they never told me how long between reviews and if i would have any! thanks for your help!

Depends on your disability and age. Also, not everyone gets reviewed.

Read the paperwork and the booklets you received when you first got approved. Your review time table will be listed.

Don't worry about a review. Just keep seeking medical treatment. When SSDI get around to it, they will notify you and your treating physician.

How often a person gets reviewed while recieving ssdi benefits depends on how likely their disabling condition is to improve.if their condition is expected to improve than they will be reviewed every year or so.if there is a possibility of improvement than it's every 3 years.if no improvement is expected than i beleive it's every 5-7 years.your awards letter should have explained the frequency of reviews.however,because of the back-log of reviews social security has not been going by this schedule lately.people who were supposed to have been reviewed after 1 year are getting reviewed after 3 or 4 years due to the back-log of review cases.

Interesting thread, I have been wondering the same thing. Mz. Migraine, thanks, I was 52 (will be 55 shortly) when awarded and have looked through my paperwork time and time again. There are no dates or timetable on my own paperwork; no mention of a review at all. However, in the conclusion or rather summary it does say "permanently disabled". Does this make a difference? I would think it does but I just don't for certain either.

It should. You are probably in the 5 -7 year review period.

My award letter, it also states "permanently disabled." But, it also states I am in the 5-7 yr review period. The SS booklet explains what each review schedule means. Did you receive the booklet which details everything you need to know about SSDI?

I was awarded SSDI at the tender age of 55. I am currently 61 yrs young and have yet to be reviewed & don't expect to be.

Thanks Mz. Migraine, yes, I received and have read all the booklets provided. And I realize there are supposed to be reviews. But again, my Award Letter doesn't state anything about a review and/or even a personal timeline. I will wait and see though because you are probably right about the 5-7 year period; have awhile yet.

I was just approved and my letter stated that my review would be in 2015. My disability is both of my hands and the depression "they" have caused me. I know it was explained to me that if SS feels that you have a good chance of recovering and going back to work the review would be in 1 year, somewhat of a chance 3 years, not much of a chance 5-7 years. That's what I was told.

HMMM, well my awards letter says "review at least once every 3 years", BUT I guess I was going by the written decision from the appeal judge (my case was all done through the mail, so I am not sure how it is normally done and what paperwork you would normally get) and he had put 2015 in his decision, so that is where I must have gotten that from...Sorry for the confusion

I had my last review in 2008 and I am up for it again. I have epilepsy and panic attacks. I don't understand why we have to prove over and over again that we have a problem. Everytime they send me these forms I get terrified of the interview. I know the answers should all be "yes" "no" or "I can't recall at this time" - but this is my life these people are playing with. I need my benefits to see my doctors. I have never missed an appointment with them, and I have been sick from other things as well. I just wish I could get over the fear.
