Default I think this might be good. Is it?

Sent in my initial app online. SSDI initially called and said my onset date of initial injury wouldn't work because I had gone back to work part time. I asked if it didn't qualify as an unsuccessful work attempt. He said he would look into it and could I please send in my pay stubs and medical expenses.

I sent in the pay stubs and am still in the process of gathering medical expenses, and today I got the residual function and prior work history stuff in the mail.

Does that mean they've decided to go with the onset date of last January?

My guess is no. But you should talk to your local office.

Residual function and prior work history is a normal part of the application process that everyone receives. Doesn't mean they've decided anything.

Try not making something of everything. Makes the process seem longer. Just all routine stuff your going through.
