Question SSDI and back taxes

I'm here for my father he's not too computer savvy. I have a question about taxes and SSDI, if i posted this in the wrong place i apologize.

My father just found out he could get tax money from his SSDI check. He's been collecting SSDI since 2005. My question is could he claim the back taxes (if that's the word for it) from 2005 until now?

Do you mean he has had income tax withheld from his benefits and never filed a tax return to request a refund? If that is your question, it would be an IRS question. Maybe someone here knows the limitations on filing tax returns for previous years.

If you don't mean that, please rephras your question. What does it mean "he could get tax money"?

It's not eligible for Earned Income Credit, if that's what he was considering? A few years back there were those stimulus tax credits, but the timeline for those is well past, and I haven't heard of anything similar.

If SSDI is his only income, generally no income tax will be due, but if he has other taxable income, he might. Or if he's filing a joint return, he might. It is not tax free income.
