My concern is this: Although SS doesn't want to come out and say it, it appears that their goal is to get you off SS benefits with this program. My impression is that their "incentive" is that they'll work with you for a period of time but your entire disability status changes the second you receive your first paycheck. They'll allow you to collect benefits up to a point, then they will re-decide your claim to determine if you're disabled enough to collect further benefits and if you've been able to hold down fairly steady employment, you run the risk of losing it all. I assume you'd need a doctor's assessment and it would go back into the process of predetermining your claim.
Is this a fair assessment?

I recently went for an assessment for the "ticket to work" program.I spent the whole day with a doctor (psychiatrist) for an assessment of my mental capabilities.I was so happy to hear him say that I am capable of holding a part-time job.I haven't worked since 2008.Now 4 years and 2 brain-surgerys
later this came as one of the greatest moments (and surprise to me and the doctor)hearing his words "you can work"!..I darn near cryed.He said I would not lose my benefits at all,.rather I would simply boost my income.I could use that with all the bills I have.This way I could afford a few luxury items here and there.If I were to progress to
the point of returning to work full-time I'd sure do that. It's a priviledge to be a productive member of society.I really don't think I'll ever lose my benefits and with your condition I don't think there's any way you will lose yours either. T/care |
