Hi and welcome
I moved your thread to our SSDI/SSI forum as it is better suited here.

Honestly, I think any real comments at this time would be pure speculation as politicians may say a lot while campaigning but it is Congress that makes the laws and changes them etc

I just want to mention at the outset here, for anyone who may respond, that our guidelines call for very limited political posting so as to avoid upset and disputes among members....so where it is ok to discuss the issue, please don't become partisan or engage in any flame/attack rhetoric

thanks

Default Is there a separate place for SSDI & SSI

In reading your reply I see you told someone you are placing their question with the SSDI & SSI section. I thought social security was talking about that. If there is a separate place can you show me where it's at?

Hi
sorry for any misunderstanding...I meant I had moved the original post to this forum which is the SSDI/SSI forum...they had posted it in one of the other forums here.

No, SSDI will not go away for those of us older than 55 or disabled.
Medicaid on the other hand, will have dramatic reduction in funding to the states. (That's if the Republicans still control the House, it will pass there and if Democrats still hold the Senate it will be vetoed there and never reach the Presidnet's desk.)
There's also a p[ossibility that Romney will increase deductables on SSDI if he can get passed by both houses of Congress)

according to their own past policy speeches, position statements, and bills submitted if Romney/Ryan are elected, the retirement age will be raised, the cost of living formula will be changed causing the raises to be much less, means testing for social security, voucher system for medicare for those under 55 currently which will increase the cost of medical care for recipients, a push like Reagan did in the early 1980's to push people off of social security disability to greatly reduce the rolls.
