here and how long did it take. I heard that in OK SSD is hard to get and I need it really bad. I'm also going to ask for SSI while I wait. I know each case is different,just wandering abt in general. I have good medical records and my Dr's have agreed to fill out papers. I have clinical depression,generalized anxiety disorder,panic attacks,PTSD,fibromyalgia,chronic fatigue syndrome,neuropathy,restless leg syndrome,degenerative disk disease,endometriosis,sciatica nerve damage.

Does it look like I might have a good case. I finally had to stop working in March. I'm working on the SSD papers now. My Dr told me I should apply with the mental issues,they get approved quicker. I don't know if she has seen this happen,I didn't ask. I thought I would put those issues down first then follow with the physical. Although,they kinda tie in together.

whatever you put down, the most important part is to explain how it affects your ability to work. sit , stand, kneel, bend, climb, walk, stamina, concentration, ability to work with others, how medications affect you etc.

The disability decision for SSI is the same as the disability decision for SSDI so you can't get SSI while you wait for SSDI. The exception would be if you filed your claim during the five month waiting period for SSDI and were found disabled immediately. It all depends on numbers and dates. You should list all medical conditions that affect your ability to work. Sometimes it is the combination of conditions that are used to decide if you are disabled.

You should make completing a thorough application a priority. This process can take a long time. You don't want to add to the time.

I can only hope and pray I'll be one of those who are aprroved on the first try but since I'm not a lucky person,I doubt it happens. My problem is I'm single with no kids and no savings so I have no way to pay rent,bills. I have 2 sisters that live here in town but neither one is in a position to help out financially. I can move in with the younger sister if I have to but I have OCD and a problem with germs,etc and I know it will be hard for me. Also,they have a 6yr girl who I love dearly and she can't seem to understand that I can't do everything with her like I used to. Plus they are a loud group and I need peace and quiet since I'm in bed quite alot lately. they don't really havce room for me,they have a 2 bedroom duplex. I just don't know yet what to do.

I've read in other places that people who are low income and don't have many assets are able to be on SSI till the decision is reached for SSd then have to pay the SSI back out of their back pay. I don't have any income and no assets worth anything anymore.

Also not from OK, but I do have OK information. Most recently, Oklahoma was awarding about 29.2% of new claims for Social Security disability. (national is 32.1%, so not too far off average).

I agree that you definitely NEED to include ALL of your conditions and impairments from the very beginning - do not pick and choose. I disagree with your doctor that mental health impairment claims go through faster. The process is the same for all impairments. The only things that help move the claim along are completing forms as quickly as you can and your doctors responding to Social Security's requests for your records.

As far as your chances go, it is really important for your doctors to submit opinions about your conditions. You can do a search online for a PRTF (Psychiatric Review Technique Form). Have your mental health provider complete this, and make sure it is signed or co-signed by a psychiatrist or psychologist - M.D. or Ph.D. They should also complete a "Medical Source Statement - mental" form. Both can be found in numerous places online. These are especially important for mental health cases because records alone do not have sufficient information for what Social Security is looking for.

You also want to make sure Social Security gets any x-rays or MRI's you've had on your neck or back.

As far as this getting-payment-from-SSI while SSD is pending, here's the deal: I have only ever seen 2 cases (been doing this for 7 years) where Social Security issued these up-front SSI payments. These are presumptive payments for those who file for SSI and claim to have a condition that alone will qualify for SSI if medical records substantiate it (usually, these are terminal illnesses or very, very severe conditions). For the rest, which is almost everyone, no payments are made at all until you have been officially awarded benefits. And SSI and SSDI are processed at the same time all the way through. It is more likely you will not get any payments for at least several months. But, plan for the worst and hope for the best!

Lastly, ** getting yourself a representative (advocate or attorney). Yes, you have to give up 25% of your past-due benefits as a fee for help. But a rep knows all of this stuff and can help you so much. I recommend calling a few local attorneys and finding someone you are comfortable with. I don't recommend calling the large, national firms you see on TV all the time. It is my opinion that they are less-skilled and not as thorough. If you don't get an attorney up front, definitely look into it if you are denied.

iam friendly with this girl iv'e known for a few years through facebook.she lives in oklahoma city and has been trying to get on ssdi benefits for a few years now.she also said that it's very hard to get it there for some reason compared with the rest of the country.she suffers from bi-polar,anxiety issues,ect...been denied twice and is now on her 3rd appeal.so who ever said that being approved is easier if you have mental issues is missinforming you...

I was talking to another woman from Ok today and she's been waiting for 2yrs. But yet another one got hers in 3months so I guess you just never know. It sure makes me scared and woried abt what I'll do if it takes this long for me.
