Got a letter from SSA yesterday saying my new claim (filed June 2013) was denied. I don't understand it at all. After all I've been through in the last year....and they say I'm not disabled. I'm tired of this stupid game with these people.

Do appeal the decision. Do you have a representative (usually a disability attorney) working on your behalf? If not, might be time to consider that.

Also, you may want to call your local SSA office about your denial letter. Perhaps they don't have all your medical records and such.

Another option, see if your local Congressman/woman office gets involved with disability claims. You are after all a voter I would presume, and they sure like to be re-elected to office.

I had my congressman's office get involved in mine (on advice of my local SSA office), and woah nothing like congressional interest to push through the barriers and delays.

Sounds like this was your first denial letter. So definitely get in touch with the local office, inquire on what records they actually have to determine what more they need. And file your appeal.

My guess is the hangup is at the state level, not local level.

This is my second claim, and this is the first denial with it. First claim was denied at the ALJ level in May 2013. I have had an attorney for over a year. I wrote to my Congressman and his office called SSA about 3 weeks ago.

I'm sorry to hear that, KittyPaw.

Does your lawyer have any insight as to what the problem is ? As in, does he think your docs weren't specific enough about how your symptoms make you unable to work ? Does he think your medical records are very strong and can't figure out why the SSA is denying you ? Have you read your records ?

I'm sorry if you have answered these questions already. Sometimes I find it difficult to remember the each person's history.
