Default Wrote to my Congressman

I wrote a letter to my Congressman about 3 weeks ago. Their office called me a couple of days ago; I was thrilled that they took me seriously, unlike SSA and several other places I've tried to get help from.

She said she called my local SSA office and they said my claim is still being processed. Amazing how she got through isn't it, since my attorney's rep has tried to call them many times, leaves messages, and doesn't hear back. Anyway, she told me about how I can file a "financial hardship" thing through my attorney, which I emailed my attorney rep about but haven't heard back yet so she must be finding out what it is.

I hope I get lucky and that the Congressman inquiry itself somehow speeds up my claim.

Otherwise I am still frustrated. I am still severely depressed, still disabled....my therapist filled out the SSA form saying I can't work, my psychiatrist filled out the form saying I can't work, I filled out the self-report, and my third party did too, yet here I am hearing nothing from them.

Just hanging on to little things like the fact that the Congressman's office actually looked into my case.

Your doc and/or therapist saying you are unable to work is not suffecient. SS uses a complex medical/legal evaluation to determine if you are eligible for SSI and/or SSDI. This is a very common error that medical professional's make. Please read through the sticky, "Don't start your claim unprepared" or purchase (or borrow a copy from your local library) of NOLO's guide to SSI/SSDI.

Hi Lit Love,

I almost mis-read your post. At first glance I thought you said do NOT use NOLO's guide to SSDI, but when my brain kicked in, then I realized you were suggesting to read it and read the sticky.

Guess my ailments are affecting my brain as well as my body. Sorry that I am not with it lately. Thanks for your post.
