Default Disability Info Halted

I called about the status on my disability claim, since I filed in April. Well what do you know - they said they can't access it until after the Government Stupid Shutdown. I just don't know what else to say.

Default Good morning skywalker.....my GA info

Hey there....I'm in GA too. Not sure if it was your initial application you filed in
April but I filed in May 2013 and was declined at the end of July 2013 which I expected. I filed my reconsideration at the end of Sept 2013 and then called last week to make sure it was in the system and to add a trip to the ER. I talked to the local office and they said it was in and would be reviewed in Stone Mountain. He also added my info.

I have small fiber neuropathy. But that was last week...lol.....it's probably in limbo now.

Good luck with your claim !

Debi

Social security (including disability) is not suppose to be included in the shutdown at all. I do not understand why they told you that.

I filed for disability in April 25th earlier this year. I've been to the ER 4 times since then, I've been to numerous doctors, and I have a log of everything that has happened. I was told through the automated service that my claim was being processed through the medical part, and then when I spoke with a representative, they told me they could not give me any information until after the government shutdown is over.

I haven't been approved or denied yet.

Government shutdown should result in less services provided by the US government since agencies are closed and employees are furloughed.

However, parts of SSA are excepted from furlough and are providing limited services.

The SS offices remain open but are not providing full services, such as the processing of CDRs has been halted. They are still taking applications for initial and reconsideration claims. However, some Disability Determination Services (DDS) are being closed until the government is back in operation. Maine closed it's doors on Monday and I heard today that OK and MI are going to be shutting down. So even though applications are being taken, no medical decision can be made by these DDSs. DDS employees are state employees but they are funded by the federal government.
