I've been over on CRPS/RSD forum but new here.

I've been off work since 12-23-12. Got STD then LTD, I was required to
apply for SSD & did in late May '13 - Denied. Hired atty. to appeal early Oct.'13.
The original atty. left the firm and my case was taken over by another atty.
I have not heard of any progress on the process.

What does ALJ hearing stand for & what is/who is the VE?

Sorry for being naive' but I've worked all my life (fortunately) & have never had to go through any of this.

VE=Vocational Expert

You probably won't hear from your attorney until you get a hearing date.

Just wanted to pop in this thread to say I have also worked all my life...I'm 51 and have worked and paid in SS since I was 15......I have never been 'around' anyone that filed for SS so all this was so new to me and quite difficult to understand.

I hope you get your hearing soon.......I'm in GA and was initially denied.....I'm in the reconsideration stage now and just waiting for approval or denial.

We're in about the same place. I'm 54 & paid in since 16. I'm also in reconsideration stage.

The SSDI process can be very frustrating. Managing all of the paperwork and the emotional toll of waiting and waiting, with rejections along the way can be overwhelming.

I was so thankful to find this forum, both for the advice about SSA procedures and emotional support along the way. I hope that both of you also find what you need here.
