Thumbs up Appeals council evaluation

My case has been physically under evaluation since 2-25-14, hands on, not in review, why does it take so long to say yea or nay? Was informed appeals council contacted mental health doctor 4-8-14, why so late in ballgame?

Depends on the backlog in your state and the diary system your claims rep has. Some have 30, 60 or 90 days diary system. If you are represented by an attorney you can always request a status report. If you are unrepresented AND know your claim # as well as your claim rep name & ext #, again you can ask for a status report.

I don't think backlog comes into play here, if it's physically in someone's hands, their eyes are looking at it, they call my doctor on 4-8-14, it's hard to imagine they now say, let's put this one on the shelf now.

Put it on the shelf until next you come up on diary.

It doesn't take that long to get a hearing before alj, there is something wrong, talk to your attorney and get your congressman involved.

My ALJ hearing was held 18 months after my initial reconsideration denial.
At the time, my state had a 3-5 yr backlog of SSD claims. So the state set up what they called emergency ALJ hearings which were held by "retiring" judges. The hearings were held around the state in various vacant buildings. Mine was inside an vacant Home Depot building.
