Im new to this, recently applied for ssdi due to numerous psychological issues, What Im wondering is if anyone has ever recieved Voc rehab prior to applying? I went through the program at 18. I am now 34 and my disability is worse. Im wondering if having been through voc rehab so long ago will help or hurt me.

The more training and education you have, the easier SS will assume you can transfer skills to different work. But, more importantly:
1) Do you believe you'll qualify to meet a Listed Impairment? http://www.ssa.gov/disability/profes...ders-Adult.htm 2) If not, you must try to qualify via the 5 step process, which will in all likelihood be difficult and require a lengthy fight. Social Security's standard is that you your disability is severe enough that you are unable to work above the SGA level, which is $1090 per month, doing any job, not just the type of work you've done in the past. http://www.ssa.gov/dibplan/dqualify5.htm 3) Did you receive SSI as a child? |
