Crazy Medicare & You 2016

Received my booklet in the mail 2 days ago.

SIDEBAR: I turned 65 in June which now makes me a member of the Supplemental Medicare Insurance club.
Since June, my mailbox has been flooded w/Supplemental Medicare Insurance plans wanting me to sign up w/them. I have exactly 6 months to make my final decision. All of it went straight to the trash.
I had already decided to go w/the health carrier I already have. However, I will need to review the available plans in the Medicare & You booklet as my state & county has quite a few to compare which if any has a better plan and/or match my current one at a better price.
To prevent info overload, between now & the end of December, I will review 1-2 SMI plans a week!

I've been on medicare for 12 yrs...I'm 77. I take ONLY straight medicare, no supplemental (cost prohibitive for me) and no HMO's. I pay my co pays when necessary and try to stay out of doctors offices. I've changed my priorities and am prepared for copays as they come up. I am my own doctor a LOT. Use a lot of supplements, so I'm pretty healthy all in all, deal with bodywide OA and a hip replacement mess. That's my story on Medicare.

I have a great integrative MD and she accepts medicare so I see her probably now once a year.
