Default Rep Payee Report Sample?

I recently was approved on my SSI disability application and am required to have a Representative Payee to handle my finances.

My case worker at the SSA mentioned something about needing to keep every receipt for anything the money is used for, I wasn't sure if they were joking or not.
Are these reports going to actually be this strict?
Or can we just report rounded general amounts?

Does anyone have a sample of an acceptable SSI report that they could share?

Thank you.

FAQs for Beneficiaries Who Have a Payee

I think the receipts/records are to make sure the money is spent correctly on the person getting the benefits and not stolen or misused by the representative.

It's for your protection. If it becomes too much of a burden for your Rep Payee, you can hire a service, but they do charge a 10% fee. If you doc is willing to state your capable of handling your own money, you can petition to handle your own benefits.

Thank you both for the replies.

I know what it is and why it is there, we just aren't sure how a valid log looks.

Does my Rep just need to do a simple thing like:
Nov 2015: $300 to utility bills.
Nov 2015: $50 to clothes/personalcare/misc items
or
Nov 13 2015: Paid $61.23 for event tickets at <location>.
Nov 13 2015: Paid $7.97 for Shirt at Walmart store #1234567
Nov 14 2015: Paid $81.32 for share of Electricity Bill
Nov 15 2015: Paid $72.58 for share of Water Bill
etc.
or
Do they need a photocopy of each receipt with each specific charge highlighted?

We're completely new to this and seeing what and how others log it would really be of help.

Also, would having my doctor write a letter saying I am capable of handling my own money affect my eligibility for benefits? (part of my disability is memory replated, which I think is why they want me to have a rep payee)
and with that letter being approved, I would then not need to keep any log of anything?

There is a worksheet at the end of the brochure. She should use exact amounts, like a bookkeeper would and she should retain the receipts for her own protection. They should have mailed her this brochure already. She can give you a small amount in cash after all your basic needs are covered to allow you some spending money either weekly, bi weekly, or monthly--she'll have to determine how well you can manage even small amounts.

It is true that if you're claimed an impairment that effects your ability to manage your own finances and after approval you and you doc claim you are able to manage those funds, SS might investigate further. Sometimes a rep payee is not really needed, but with memory issues, you probably are better off with the extra help.
