Smile Approved

I finally got approved by an alj fully favorable, but when i got the award letter and went to the local social security office, they told i was only approved for ssi and i ask why because I have enough credit to qualify for ssdi. The rep told me to hold on and when she came back she told me when i applied i only applied for ssi not ssdi, but that was not true and then she said after looking further into the case she realized that my earning record was not up to date at the time i applied but it was up to date when I was approved and I do have enough credit. So i had to file a whole new claim for ssdi and now I am waiting again. Any one heard of this, any input thanks.

If my memory is correct to qualify for SSDI you need 10 years of working and having SS taken out.....The only reason it wouldnt of been updates was the company you were working for was not keeping SS updated....They might find there selves in some hot water for not reporting timely?

If you have kept your pay slips make sure that lines up with SS hours worked and FICA taken out.....Its easy enough to skim from the top and not report all earnings!

Congrats of being approved.....It sure is a pain, and most fail the first 2 times around...

I have about 20 year of work and i do have 20 credit in the last 10 years ,but the problem was when i applied it was not in their system ,so after i applied they told me to bring them a copy of my tax,i took a copy of my tax return for the year that was in question to social security and they made copies and said it would take care of it.But when i got approved ,that is not what happened . The year that was in question at the time when applied was not on my earning report record, but after i carried a copy of my tax to social security they updated it and its been updated from there on. So at this point I don't know

you shouldnt have to go through the process again from scratch because of their error. you were already approved medically. they should approve your eligibility for SSDI administratively without going through another hearing.
