Arrow backpay problems

Hi all it has been a while since my last post, and I have been waiting patiently for my SSDI backpay for 8 months now. I know...wait wait wait. But I blong to another forum where a person that works for the SSA comes and posts help for us, and thought that I should share this tidbit of info with everyone here in case there are some here having backpay woes.

Here is what she told me about SSDI backpay

Quote:
Do you know if you filed an SSI claim at any time? In the initial interview, the CR may have taken an SSI claim and denied it on the spot for excess income or resources. You would have gotten a notice on this shortly after your initial application. Your current award notice might include a paragraph about holding your back pay until SSI is decided.

I could get very technical here which would just be confusing since I would speak a different languages - MSSICS, MCS, WOD, MBR, WF FAC, SPORT, T51 - but it is very possible and a frequent occurance that the existance of even a denied SSI claim has thrown a wrench in the automated processing of your 'back pay'. Some of the TSR's at the 800# understand this process better than others, but I think you have the best chance of getting an answer if you can talk to a claims rep at your local office. That is harder to to since they are mostly taking claims all day. But, if the SSI windfall computation is pending erroneously, then the local office needs to notify the payment center since SSI determinations are made in the local offices. If you decide to go to your local office, don't go the first week of the month if you can avoid it unless you don't mind really long waits.
Hope this helps some of ya that are waiting for what seems like an eternity.
