Claudia, it sounds like your neurosurgeon is definitely helping you prep. for your venture :D.

If the cruise people (what do you call the people who run the ship? hmmm) have transporter chairs on-board, I hope you'll consider that. Keep as much strength and stamina for enjoying your trip as pain-free as might be possible . I'm sure you know that, though, but a gentle reminder... well, that can't hurt, huh :).

I take my chair most everywhere - afraid that one won't be available (due to demand) when I go out, though it would make going out much easier if more chairs or even more places provided DME for customers' use.

I've not been on a cruise, so I'm looking forward to your trip. You're gonna have to give us the scoop when you return from it!

CONGRATS TO YA!!!! Honey I would cruise the world if I could. Thats money you earned and deserved. If people knew what h--- we go through just living day to day, not to mention what SS puts us through they would also say

YOU GO GIRL!!!!

Don't forget to contact your local Property Appraisal District. I just found out I get an additional $25,000 exemption off my appraisal price. That's a pretty significant chunk of change. I had no idea it was that much. But I do understand that it varies county to county, state to state, so that doesn't mean your exemption would be as high as mine.

Good luck,

Linda

Linda

Thanks for the reminder. I remember filling out that form last year as we bought a new home in 10/04 and recall a box to check for disability. Will be calling them in the morning.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hugs To Ya!
Claudia:)

Wow Claudia,Great News. Now enjoy yourself a bit.Remember all, once you have been found to be disabled under the strict SS guide lines,it is up to SSA to prove beyond all the medical documentation that you have recovered to a point that you can gain significant gainful employment. There have been people that won marathons ,yet their disability did not prevent them from doing so. However their disability prevents them from SGA.It's not up to me,or anyone else to dispute the disablee's condition. That was already proven in the process of becoming eligible for SSDI.Lets all too remember those whom we have all known at one time or another that died from disease's ,yet in the beginning stages, their quality of life seemed to be just fine. The SS administration has been around he block enough to know peope like Claudia have the ability to enjoy some of life's pleasures dispite their ailments.Don't live a life of paranoia, and dont let opinions of others cause you to question whether or not you should enjoy a bit of quality of life while you are able.I did not reply to dispute nor attack anyone.Just giving a bit of information passed in to me during my fight for workers compensation and now my battle with SSDI. Go Claudia

I totally agree with backless ~~ congrads to you & enjoy!! My younger sister passed away a year ago this past Aug. from 3 kinds of cancer. She was 42 & worked all her life up until she got sick. 2 years ago on her birthday she found out about her cancers & started her battle against it AND SSD. Well as (almost) always; she was denied & then apealed it & then finally won. 5 months later she received her backpay; wasn't much; but too sick to even enjoyed it. She did buy one of those expensive foam matterises; hopeing to sleep better. But; she never got released from the hospital to even try it.
Enjoy yourself as much as possible & hopefully it will be a painfree & enjoyable time for you & yours.
