Default Hmmmm... am I a "new beneficiary"?

Hello,

I have been awaiting a decision on my SSD application. I have not received a decision letter yet. But today I received a letter containing a Temporary Password Code (PRC)for accessing my SSD information online. The letter states,

"If you are a new beneficiary, please make sure you have received your notice of benefit payment or your first payment before you try to register a password."

Can I assume that I have been approved, since the letter seems to implies that I am a new beneficiary? I tried to find out by calling SS but they are closed today. I also went online and checked my application status and it says that a decision has been made but it doesn't say whether or not I was approved. The automated phone system wont' give me this information either. It tells that I must speak to a rep to get this information.

Can I go ahead and try to register a password, on the assumption that my notice of benefit payment is probably in the mail? I'm hoping that by registering a password I can go online and see if I have in fact been approved.

Any thoughts?

Madison

Hello and welcome -

I just saw you were new to the site and wanted to say HI.

weekends are sometimes slower, but I'm sure someone will be along with some info for you soon.
Maybe the "your notice of benefit payment or your first payment "
will arrive on Monday.

Default Could be

Madison, I received the same thing, I registered the password to access, it also stated a decison had been made.

Then I received a phone call. The local office stated that a decision was made (she could not tell me what it was) and the process was forwarded for review to Baltimore. I understood, not from her, that generally it is a rubber stamp.

Likely that it would not be reversed if a favorable decision, and was not. I actually had the deposit of my monthly benefit into my account before I received the favorable letter. Keep a watch to your account the day you should receive benefits. Look at the schedule on the www.ssa.gove site

I hope that things are favorable for you and swiftly letting you know that.

Hi Nancy,

Madison made that one and only post 6 years ago.

You usually get better/more responses when you start your own thread to identify a new question/problem.

The website password letter hints that that mail may have beat an approval letter to your door, but I wouldn't count on anything until you get the 'official' word.

I know the waiting can drive us crazy !!!!!

Best of luck !
