Default Has anyone gone through this?

Oh my God, I am absolutely freaking out here. Since my atty. has done very little to help me on my case thus far, I have tried keeping up on what is happening to my file/case on my own.

So I called my adjudicator this morning and she tells me that my case has been closed in their office in Reno, NV (where all the decision makers work) and has been closed SINCE OCTOBER 6TH !!!!!!! She said it was sent back to the federal office to be double checked. I asked who was supposed to send the letter and she said her office did but I didn't receive one and can you please tell me over the phone. She said if I want info over the phone, I have to go to or call the Vegas office which at 90 miles away is my "local" office. So I spend the next 40 minutes redialing the "local office's" phone number. When I get through, all I can do is leave a message and hope that someone will call me back.

Has this happened to anybody else? Any ideas to help me?

Oh boy, Nancy. I sure am sorry they are giving you that old run-around they seem to be so good at.

At one point I went through something similar to yours. I had to keep calling my "local" office, which was sixty miles away, and all I could ever get was a machine. I left close to a dozen messages without ever getting a return call. When I finally got frustrated and asked to speak to a manager, the manager told me that she couldn't make anyone call me back if they didn't want to!

It's such a frustrating process, especially if your lawyer isn't doing his part. I would think about getting a new lawyer. Or if you can, visit the local office in person. It might take you all day there, but at least you'll get to talk to a real person, and they'll have to listen.

I hope you work your way through all this red tape, hon, and get to where you need to be...
