Hi I recently received my explanation of determination letter. It says "we have determined that your disability based on your vision and statutory blindness began on 1-30-07."
I called the SSA office and asked them what my status is: The lady said I was approved. Just waiting on my award letter. I was denied the first time. My question is: Does this mean I will receive SSD or only SSI? I asked the lady at the SSA office and she seemed to think it was for SSD, which is what I was hoping for. And, about how much longer do you think it will be before I receive my award letter? Thanks, Ken |

Very much looks like for SSD, and your letter should arrive very soon.

Called social security yesterday for an update on my claim. Told me I had been awarded ssd and will rceieve a letter next week. I filed myself, over the phone 10 weeks ago. I can't believe I was awarded so quickly. The six month waiting period won't be up until april. Have st/lt insurance through my employer. Not sure how it will all play out.
