Default 2 week ACDF post-op appointment

Hi Guys!
I had my post-op appt. with my neuro yesterday, and all is well! I can return to work a week from Friday. My only issue is some muscle spasms (mild) and the fact that my swallowing is still difficult. Seems I am one of the lucky few whose throat is still swollen inside...he said it could be 2 months before I can swallow normally. Other than that, everything is cool beans!

I'm really glad to hear that your recovery is going well. Take er easy when you get back to work, and make sure to soothe those muscle spasms as best as you can, because they can be monsters when they get out of control.

About the swallowing...just remember to chew everything really well and follow each bite with a small sip of water, just to clear any irritation from the food passing through. Ice cream, yogurt and other types of cold foods are handy for soothing the irritation after a meal, or just in general. Hopefully its just from the intubation process and the tissues will heal quickly.

Good luck on your return to work. Keep us updated on your progress.
