I am wondering if any of you with osteophytes or neural foraminal narrowing, bulging discs, etc at c3, c4, c5, have had any problems with breathing. I have read that these nerves innervate the diaphragm, which enables breathing. Symptoms of damage to the nerves include lung problems and the lungs fill with bile and secretions. This has not happened to me. But i find it scary to think of my osteophytes becoming bigger in this happening. The article said that in some cases the person cant breathe without a respirator.

I too have this spuring going on, and my breathing is very bad at times. I have a mri this week and maybe can get some answers. I will post back what I find out. If you have anything to share with me I would appreciated any information. thanks

The good thing is that usually they can get rid of the bone spurs and alleviate the problem with surgery. Naturally, no one wants to HAVE to have surgery, but that is the last resort.
